On the 7th of October, 863 (Thurston) Squadron took another step forward in strengthening the commitment of our new recruits. The beginning of the evening was dedicated to drill training, beginning with a focus on mastering the basics of military discipline.
The first session, running from 1915 to 2000, introduced the Sequence of Static Drill Positions and Movements, followed by the Sequence of Marching Drill Movements. This foundational training is vital for building the precision and unity essential to squadron life.
Both sessions were expertly formed and presented by our Recruit Training Team (RTT), made up of hand-selected Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs) and those who aspire to become NCOs. This approach not only enhances the opportunity for advancement and responsibility but also showcases the maturity and willingness to lead that our cadets develop during their time with us.
After a brief break, the second session, from 2000 to 2100, focused on uniform standards and further detail of the drill method. All in preparation for their Passing our Parade (POP) and Recruit Training Camp (RTC).
These sessions not only developed the recruits’ skills but also reinforced the Squadron’s values of pride, professionalism, and leadership.
