Treasure Hunt

Our newest recruits returned for their second night at 863 (Thurston) Squadron, building on their first impressions with a fun, engaging, and informative evening.

Where is the OC office

The night began with a guided introduction to our squadron building. Cadets were shown the key rooms and facilities that they will come to know well during their training — from classrooms and stores to the parade square and social spaces. This gave everyone a sense of the environment and where to find the essentials.

To reinforce this knowledge, the recruits then took part in a treasure hunt designed by our team. Working in small groups, they searched for clues and answered questions that led them to important resources and locations around the building. This light-hearted activity encouraged teamwork, communication, and a good laugh or two, while also helping cadets get to grips with the squadron layout in a memorable way.

Briefing before setting out to do the drill

The evening finished outside on the parade square with an introduction to basic drill. Recruits were shown some of the very first movements they will use throughout their cadet careers. These simple steps mark the beginning of a journey into the discipline, teamwork, and pride that drill instils in every air cadet.

It was another positive and energetic night, and our new recruits are already starting to settle in as part of the 863 family.
