Today at 863 (Thurston) Squadron, cadets gathered for an important step in their training — the Weapons Handling Test (WHT). The session was hosted by SGT Hudson, whose clear instruction and professional approach ensured that all attendees had the best possible opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and skills safely.
Those taking part in the WHT were:
CDT Barbrooke
CPL Giles
CDT Heighway
CDT Richardson
CDT Wong
CDT Janes
CDT Turner
SGT Weeks
CDT Millard
CWO Millard

The activity was carefully supervised by CI Millard RCO (Male) and CI Millard (F), ensuring that safety remained the highest priority throughout.
The Weapons Handling Test is a key element of cadet training, ensuring that participants are competent, safe, and confident in handling service rifles. Passing the WHT opens the door to opportunities such as live firing on the range and participating in field exercises, making it a crucial milestone for any cadet progressing through their training.

Today’s WHT was run in preparation for the upcoming shooting day on 20th September, where cadets will put their skills into practice on the range.

Well done to all the cadets who attended today — your dedication and focus reflect the high standards of 863 Squadron. A big thank you also goes to SGT Hudson SAA for delivering the session and to the supervising staff for their ongoing support.
