What a night to remember! A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for the fundraising quiz night organised by the Thurston Cadet Trust (TCT). Without their dedication and support, this incredible event couldn’t have taken place. We’re incredibly grateful to Richard Gay and Kathryn Trumpess, with a special shout-out to Cadet Support, particularly Cadet Skilling, for helping to make this event a brilliant success.

Aand what a night it was!, we had 8 exciting rounds of questions, along with two additional table-top entries. The quiz featured 10 teams, made up of family, friends, and neighbours—our very own ‘Freighbours.’ The competition was fierce, with three excellent quiz prizes up for grabs, alongside a quality raffle and plenty of snacks to keep everyone fuelled and focused. And, of course, the kitchen team deserves a special mention for keeping the teas and coffees flowing all night.
One of the most thrilling parts of the evening was the frenzied bidding during the auction for cadets! Each team was eager to secure extra help for the ATC round, and the energy in the room was electric.

The quiz itself covered a wide range of topics:
• Movies
• History
• Connections
• Music
• Where Am I in Bury St Edmunds?
• Numbers
• ATC
• Wipe Out Round
Plus, there were two table-top rounds: English Counties and a funny picture caption round. In the end, the winning team scored 107 points, with the lowest score being 73 points. Not too shabby!

There were plenty of opportunities to win throughout the night with three quiz prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, as well as a raffle featuring around 20 prizes. Altogether, the event raised an incredible £531.80 for the Squadron!
The evening kicked off at 19:30 and wrapped up around 22:30, and by all accounts, everyone had a fantastic time. The cadets did the squadron proud, showing professionalism and dedication throughout the evening. And, of course, we can’t forget to thank Andy for his impromptu and heartwarming speech at the end of the night—it was the perfect way to close out such a special event.
Once again, a massive thank you to TCT for making this event possible, and to everyone who participated, donated, and supported the event. Your generosity and community spirit made all the difference!
