
Concluding on 30th October, three committed cadets from 863 (Thurston) Squadron—SGT Colinwood-Hall, CPL Weeks, and CDT Trumpess—wrapped up their demanding Silver Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) practise expedition across Oxfordshire’s beautiful Cotswold District. Over three days and two nights, they navigated varied terrain, braved the elements, and demonstrated the skills honed through their Air Cadet training.
Day-by-Day Highlights
Day 1: The team set out with full packs and a determined mindset, navigating the winding trails and rugged inclines of Oxfordshire. The day’s journey challenged their navigation skills and required teamwork to manage the weight of their provisions and equipment.

Day 2: After a brisk night camping, Day 2 introduced some of the toughest terrain. With strong communication and a shared commitment, the cadets took turns leading and supporting one another, showcasing the decision-making and adaptability essential for success.

Day 3: The final day called for grit and determination as they pushed through fatigue to reach the end point. Their accomplishment, celebrated at the finish, reflects their hard work and dedication to achieving the goals of the Silver DofE.
