Day 1 – Into the Heart of Snowdonia
The thrill of adventure buzzed through the minibus as we pulled away from Thurston at 1700 sharp. Excitement surged with every mile, the anticipation growing stronger as we headed west towards the towering peaks of Snowdonia. Laughter and chatter filled the air, but there was a palpable undercurrent of adrenaline—this was no ordinary trip.
By 1930, after a few hours on the road, transport pulled into a bustling service station. It was a short break, but it was enough for everyone to stretch their legs and fuel up. A round of hot drinks and snacks recharged the team as we eyed the Welsh mountains looming closer with each passing mile.
Onward to Bethesda, our destination nestled on the edge of Snowdonia’s rugged terrain. The last stretch of the drive, shrouded in nightfall, had a sense of mystery—dark, jagged peaks rose like ancient sentinels on either side of the road, casting shadows that danced in the headlights.
At precisely 2330, we arrived at our accommodation, a substantial basecamp. The moment we stepped out, the cold, crisp air of the Welsh wilderness greeted us—an exhilarating reminder of the challenge ahead. Inside, the team gathered for a briefing. and tour of the facilities Maps were unfurled, plans were laid, and the objectives of our weekend adventure were clearly outlined.
By 0030, lights out. The hum of excitement still lingered, but rest was essential. Tomorrow, Snowdonia awaited, and it would demand everything we had to give.
