Gold medals and a great team effort at Wing Cross Country!

Five cadets from 863 (Thurston) Squadron represented us at the Wing Cross Country Competition, showing determination, team spirit and plenty of enthusiasm throughout the day.
The weather held out for the races, saving its downpour for the awards ceremony! Thankfully, there was plenty to celebrate:
Cdt Rowland achieved gold in the over-16 girls’ category.
Cdt Bell achieved gold in the over-13 girls’ category.
Cdt Allen secured an excellent top-five finish.
Cdt Millard and Cpl Millard both finished in the middle of the field, putting in a determined effort for the squadron.

We are incredibly proud of all five cadets. Every one of them stepped up, gave their best and represented 863 brilliantly.
Their gold medals also put Cdt Bell and Cdt Rowland in a strong position for possible selection to represent the Wing at the Regional Cross Country Competition. We’ll be keeping our fingers crossed for them!
A big thank you to CIs Millard for marshalling and supervising our cadets, and to SI Allen for his help and support.

These opportunities depend on staff giving their time, and we really appreciate their contribution.
A great day, a fantastic team effort and two gold medals to celebrate. Well done to all five cadets — you have done 863 proud!
