863 (Thurston) Squadron at the North Walsham Football Tournament

On a crisp and cloudy Sunday morning, the 863 (Thurston) Squadron embarked on a thrilling football adventure at the North Walsham Football Club. Fourteen squadrons from across the region gathered for a day filled with spirited competition, fellowship and sportsmanship.




The Group Stage: Determination and Team Spirit

The 863 Squadron was placed in Group Two, where we faced off against formidable opponents: 2470 Sudbury, 759 Beccles, 2110 North Walsham, and 1070 Diss. Our matches were held on pitch two, a lively hub of action and excitement throughout the day.

  • Match 3: 863 Thurston vs. 2110 North Walsham

  • Match 4: 863 Thurston vs. 1070 Diss




Quarterfinals: A Close Contest

Having successfully navigated the group stage with two wins and two draws, we advanced to the quarterfinals. Here, we faced the 222 Broadlands Squadron, a team known for their tactical prowess and skill.





The match was intense, with both teams displaying exceptional football. Despite our best efforts and unwavering determination, we were narrowly defeated 1-0, bringing our tournament journey to an end. The squad took pride in their performance, knowing they had given their all against a strong opponent.


The Final Showdown

The tournament culminated in a thrilling final between Norwich and North Walsham. Spectators were treated to a display of top-tier football, with both teams vying for the coveted title. In the end, it was the North Walsham Squadron who emerged victorious, much to the delight of the home crowd.
