
On Sunday 20th October 2024, 11 cadets from 863 (Thurston) Squadron participated in the annual cross country championships held at Thetford Rugby Club. The event kicked off at 1000hrs with squadrons from across the region gathering for a competitive day of endurance and determination.



Despite the brisk weather and challenging course, our cadets gave their all, showcasing not only their physical fitness but also their squadron pride and teamwork. The atmosphere was electric as teams assembled from 0845hrs, with excitement building towards the start of the race.


Our squadron delivered a sustained performance across various categories, with Cadet Rowland leading the charge by securing 1st Place in the Junior Girls category. Her impressive pace and determination set the bar high for the rest of the competition.

In the Senior Boys category, Cadet Peacock ran an excellent race and achieved a commendable 3rd Place, making a strong impact in a highly competitive field.

Similarly, Cadet Weeks showed exceptional resilience and earned 3rd Place in the Senior Girls category, rounding off a fantastic day for 863.

With these results, 863 Squadron continues to demonstrate its strong sporting abilities and commitment to excellence. The support of the rest of the team was invaluable, with cadets and staff cheering from the sidelines, and our squadron’s `fellowship was evident throughout the event.

Congratulations to Cadet Rowland, Cadet Peacock, Cadet Weeks, and all our other cadets who participated, for their fantastic efforts and sportsmanship. We are proud of their achievements, and look forward to more successes in future competitions!
